ALICE ON SUNDAY

Hello Friends! My name is Ashly and I am the doting momma of two kiddos: RJ who 2-years old, over 3-feet tall and eating me out of house and home ( literally–he literally has the appetite of a linebacker) and Makenzie who is 9-months old and has the cutest, most kissable cheeks on the planet.

I started this blog because I have always had an obsession with style and a curiosity for books; when my children were born, I transferred those loves to them. I shamelessly spend hours a week searching the web for the best children’s books and the coolest clothes for my little people.

In doing so, I have realized that supporting small businesses (especially those owned by “mompreneurs”) was a great joy of mine and here’s why:

  1. The clothes, in both quality and design, are better. Women who have had children and decide to take on the 24/7 career of designing and producing their own clothing line love what they do and it shows. Passion can not be hidden.
  2. Shopping small is better for the community. Why not support the businesses in your community or the small businesses from other areas? I assure you, they are much more likely to do the same thing which means your support keeps money flowing locally instead of into the pockets of the big-wigs of Justice, J.Crew, H&M, and the list goes on and on and on….
  3. Unique, one-of-kind gear. A lot of the shops I support dye, cut, and sew their own clothes which means each item will have different pattern placement or vary in color. Your kids will never be dressed in the same shirt that is mass produced in some factory somewhere. In one word, I call this “Awesome”.

I’m going to be sharing some of my great finds with you and I’m seriously excited about it. I hope you find some brands to fall in love with and support.

I’ve also spent a good amount of time finding cool books for my kids to experience. Some of my greatest memories of my family are of times spent around reading or telling stories. Of course, I will hand down the classic stories from my childhood: The Giving Tree, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and others….but what about all the great books out there that are new and fresh and vibrant? I’ve been looking for them and I’ve found some! Get ready to fire up your Amazon accounts because you’ll want some of these for your kiddos too!
